Bishop Allen Hicken knows people have a variety of ideas about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, more commonly known as the Mormon church. He maintains that education is the best way to improve awareness and understanding.
"We are Christians. I think sometimes there's a misconception about that. We believe in and worship Jesus Christ and God the Father,'' says Hicken. "We feel affinity with Christians about that.''
The parking area of the Chelsea Church of the Latter Day Saints (LDS) is undergoing renovations, and the bishop expects that when they are through, members of the Chelsea community will come by to visit, ask questions about the faith.
"We're looking forward to having people see the renovations,'' says Hicken, who has served as the church's bishop since 2006. "Everyone can come and see what the six-month mess has been all about.''
