Gloria International Film Festival
Film composer Thomas Baggaley will be participating in a panel discussion at the Gloria International Film Festival. Mr. Baggaley will be part of the discussion titled Film & Music: Powerful Tools to Enrich the World. Thomas scored Christian Vuissa's award winning short film "Unfolding" and worked on the score of "The Book of Mormon Movie, Vol. 1: The Journey." "Unfolding" is also one of the films at the Gloria International Film Festival. This panel discussing will be Friday, October 17 at 7:00 pm. Abinadi: A Musical Drama by M. Ryan Taylor. The Brigham Young UniversityOpera Department will be performing "Abinadi" in conjunction with the BYU Philharmonic Orchestra the latter half of October in the De Jong Concert Hall on BYU Campus. October 22-23 will be preview nights (all tickets $5). The show will open October 24-25, and will also play on the 29-31 & November 1. Tickets for these performances are $12 ($9 with a student ID). This upcoming weekend, October 4-5 commences the 173rd Semiannual General Conference of the Church at the Conference Center in Salt Lake City. The general Saturday sessions will be held at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. with Sunday sessions held at 9:30 a.m., which includes Music and the Spoken Word and 2:00 p.m. The General Priesthood Meeting will be held in the Conference Center on Saturday, 4 October, at 6:00 p.m. >> Click here for entire story

Book of Mormon Paintings Featured in Exhibit
SALT LAKE CITY — Seventeen original oil paintings depicting epic Book of Mormon scenes will be on temporary display at the Museum of Church History and Art in Salt Lake City. The paintings, all by award-winning artist Walter Rane, will be on display at the museum from Monday, 22 September, through Sunday, 12 October.

The exhibit is being offered by the museum in cooperation with Deseret Book Company, which recently used the paintings to illustrate one of the company's newest publications, By the Hand of Mormon: Scenes from the Land of Promise. The 17 paintings made their first public appearance recently at Brigham Young University's Museum of Art. The Museum of Church History and Art is hosting the exhibit to give people in the Salt Lake City area a chance to see these exquisite works.
