DID YOU KNOW... facts about Church History
Did you know that on this day in 1989 President Gordon B. Hinckley dedicated four restoration projects in Nauvoo as part of the sesquicentennial celebration of the city in 1839.

In 1839 Joseph Smith and fellow settlers, settled in the Nauvoo area after they were forced out of Missouri by religious persecution. Within three years Nauvoo was one of the largest cities in Illinois and the tenth largest in the United States. Nauvoo was famous scenic beauty, especially the Temple overlooking the city and the river.

Quote of the day:
On Joy...

"A house does not have to be perfect to be a home of joy, a child does not have to behave perfectly to love and be loved, and every moment of life does not have to be perfect to be of value. Too often, I realize, we fail to see the glorious reality of the simple joy that abounds in the seemingly mundane routine of day-to-day living. Instead, we tend to idolize the past, idealize the future, and devalue the present.... What better way to show our appreciation to Heavenly Father for what we have than to embrace our lives, albeit 'ordinary' and 'unexciting,' with joy?"
