Gospel Questions & Answers: Question: "Will you kindly explain the significance of verses 26 and 27 in the Doctrine and Covenant, Section 132? Some hold to the view that after a man and a woman are married for time and all eternity, nothing can prevent them from receiving the promised blessings of exaltation except blasphemy against the Holy Ghost or the shedding of innocent blood. Others feel that such a doctrine tends to nullify the repeated statement in the scriptures that every man will be judged and rewarded according to his works." Click for answer DID YOU KNOW... facts about Church History Did you know that in January of 1971new Church magazinesEnsign, New Era, and Friendcommenced publication? Since 1971 the full title of the official monthly magazine for the English-speaking adult members of the Church is The Ensign of THE CHURCH of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-day Saints. It replaced the Improvement Era, Instructor, and the Relief Society Magazine in serving members of the Church eighteen years and older. Established in 1971 during a period of consolidation of all Church magazines, the New Era is published monthly. In its earliest days, it was addressed to readers twelve to twenty-six years old (to include single college students), but after four years its scope was reduced to twelve- to eighteen-year-olds to coincide with the age levels of the Aaronic Priesthood and young women programs. Published monthly since January 1971 for children to age twelve, the Friend replaced the children's friend, which was published from 1902 through 1970.
