"We Mean to Be Clean" ![]() Materials Needed: • A tray • Garbage or dirt • Rubber Gloves Preparation: • Put the garbage or dirt on a tray (or paper plate.) Hymn: “Teach Me to Walk in the Light (Hymns, 304) Scriptures: Isaiah 1:16; James 1:27; Alma 60:23; D&C 59:9 Lesson: Explain that we must live and work in a world that has much wickedness. Show the garbage or dirt. Put on the gloves and begin rummaging or working in the garbage or dirt as you talk. Explain that many times we cannot avoid coming in contact with "the evils of the world." Some activities or occupations we may be involved in may require us to have more contact with worldliness than others. Ask what can keep us from being influenced by or having the evils of the world rub off on us. Direct the answers toward the gospel principles, such as keeping the Sabbath holy, studying and pondering the scriptures, paying an honest tithe, praying every day, etc. When you are through, remove the soiled gloves and shake hands with several students thanking them for their comments. The participants will understand how keeping gospel principles (or wearing gloves) keeps us clean from the evils of the world.
