"The Meek Will Seek"
LDS Living Magazine
Hymn: "Let the Holy Spirit Guide" (Hymn 143)

Scriptures: Exodus 31:3; 1 Corinthians 7:7; Mormon 9:7-8; Doctrine and Covenants 46

Materials:
Three gift-wrapped boxes, a small, medium and a large one, each with a more or less uninteresting object inside-perhaps a wrench, a cup, a magazine, or a stapler.

Presentation:
Have a volunteer come to the front of the room and inform the students that they may have their choice of one of the three gifts but that the volunteer will get to make the final choice. Ask the class which box they think the volunteer should choose, and then let the student make the final choice. Before the student opens the box, tell the class that each of them has been given a gift from the Lord. Ask the students to turn to Doctrine and Covenants 46 to find out what you mean. Have them search in this section to see if there are any of the gifts they feel they have been blessed with. Have the volunteer open the chosen gift to see what it is.

Application:
Ask the students what they think of the gift. Ask them how they would feel if they received the gift on their birthdays. Explain that at some point in time the gift could be very useful. They might not see the need of its use now, but later on it may be much needed. Gifts of the Spirit need to be sought after when they are needed, much like the student chose a gift. We may not understand how to use them right away, but we will someday find them very useful. Challenge the students to think of what gift would help them the most in life right now, and then to earnestly pray and seek for that gift.
