Local Composer's Music Played At Ford's Funeral

A local man was honored in a different way this week. His work was featured prominently at President Ford's funeral. Mack Wilberg arranged the music for two hymns performed at the funeral. He is the associate director for the Mormon Tabernacle Choir but moonlights a little on the side, but not for extra money.

Hinckley Center Milestone Reached

Construction of the Gordon B. Hinckley Alumni and Visitors Center at Brigham Young University reached a milestone on December 8, 2006; the last piece of structural steel was hoisted into place. The final piece of steel was a pyramid-shaped roof section for the clock tower weighing 14,000 pounds. Construction of the building is being funded entirely by donations from alumni and friends of BYU. Announced in late 2005 and commenced in June 2006, the building will be completed later this year.
