In this practical and encouraging book, author Melanie Douglass suggests that good health is more about the way we live day-to-day than about a number on the scale. Using the Word of Wisdom as a guide, she recommends lifestyle changes that support a sound mind, body, and spirit.

"Questions Commonly Asked By Those Not of Our Faith " by Joseph Fielding McConkie, Answers: Straightforward Answers to Tough Gospel Questions, 16-36.
WHEN WE AS LATTER-DAY SAINTS respond to questions about our faith, we do so in the hope that those asking the questions will be impressed with the truths that are ours and seek to unite themselves with us. It is never our purpose to give offense. It's converts we want, not antagonists. The spirit of kindness and gentleness should attend our message, not a spirit of contention. We cannot expect, however, that our message will always be received in the same spirit in which we seek to deliver it. The scriptures describe the word of the Lord as being both "powerful" and "sharper than a two-edged sword," even "to the dividing asunder of both joints and marrow" (D&C 11:2). Joseph Smith was promised that his name, which is inextricably tied to the message that is ours, would be known for "good and evil," meaning that it would be "both good and evil spoken of among all people" (JS-H 1:33).

"Eating After Eight"
Q: : Is it bad to eat after 8:00 p.m.?
A: Not necessarily. Your metabolism doesn’t suddenly change into “store everything as fat” mode after a certain hour of the day. Rather, later in the evening is when most of us indulge in higher-fat and higher-calorie foods. This is the time of day when we are more likely to chow down on a pint of ice cream, mindlessly eat an entire bag of popcorn, or munch on other salty and sweet treats. Eating later in the evening can be a problem because we don’t burn a lot of calories sleeping. That is why you should eat a good breakfast and lunchyou will be moving throughout the day and using those calories. People who skip breakfast and often lunch and then devour a heavy dinner are prone to have weight-control problems. Set a goal to eat several small meals and snacks throughout the day. In other words, eat less, more often.
Parents tell us that Scripture Study for Latter-day Saint Families has worked miracles for their family scripture study. "The scriptures are now coming to life for my children," said one parent. "We have seen our children share their feelings, thoughts, and testimonies through our discussions. They are participating gladly, which is a miracle in itself."
