Library Volunteers Make Materials Available to the Blind

Katie Couric, Larry King and Diane Sawyer aren't the only ones reporting the news these days. You too can broadcast the news to potentially thousands of people as a volunteer at the Utah State Library.

Because newspapers and most literature aren't printed in Braille, the Utah Library for the Blind and Disabled is always looking for volunteers to come record audio for their Radio Reading Service.

"This is an opportunity where people can give back by reading these materials," said Donna Morris, librarian for the Utah State Library. "They share their ability to read with others who cannot."

Story of LDS Plane Crash Survivor Featured in Documentary

Brigham Young University Broadcasting has produced a new documentary, recounting the crash and heroic rescue of the Gillam plane crash of 1943.

On January 5th of 1943, pilot Harold Gillam set out with six passengers in his Lockheed 10-B, in a flight from Seattle to Alaska. Though Gillam—an experienced pilot, used to flying in adverse conditions—would typically look outside and say, “The weather’s not as bad as it looks,” this trip would prove to be different.

Interfaith Music Tribute to the Human Spirit

Originating on the Sunday evening before the 2002 Olympics as a time of prayerful reflection in preparation for welcoming the world to Salt Lake City, this annual interfaith service features music, dance, song, children's choirs, and prayers and devotional readings from a variety of faith traditions, including Buddhist, Catholic, Episcopal, First Nation, Greek Orthodox, Hindu, Jewish, LDS, Muslim, Pagan, Presbyterian, Protestant, and many others to be announced.
