The LDS Living editors have decided to kick off our blog section by playing a little get-to-know-you. First up, our top editor, Dena.Dena Kennedy
We are really excited to interact more with you through our blog! We are planning on posting more "behind-the-scenes" things that go on here - and posting more ideas that don't make it into the magazine. We'll probably prove to you that we're a small group of goofies - but that we enjoy each other and really love our job!
I'm from Provo but spent a lot of my young life going between Provo and the Tempe, AZ, area to visit my dad who lived there - I like to consider myself from both places.
I attended BYU in the early 1990's and met the love of my whole life as I was jogging down University Avenue on a warm summer night in '93. Even after nearly 20 years, my heart still skips a little beat when he walks into the room!
My husband and I had an idea in 1999 to launch a product-driven website & online magazine. At that time, I had 2 toddlers (ages 2 and 3) and I was enormously pregnant with our third son. Luckily, things went well early on and by 2002 we decided to take the online magazine to a printed magazine. By 2005, and with alot of support from you all, our little business continued to grow. We began working closely with Deseret Book in 2005 and just about a year ago, they acquired LDS Living. I personally feel very lucky to grow this magazine with such a great company's support!
I love LDS Living and I love the idea of it growing into all that it can & should be! We want to provide ideas that are unique to our LDS lifestyle. We want to publish the things you want to read. If you get the time or inclination, please feel free to share your ideas with us - we'd love to hear from you!!
