Package Plan Policies known by several names. When most people say Travel Insurance, they are referring to a Package Plan. Different insurance companies use different names for the Package Plan. They are called Trip Insurance, Vacation Insurance, Comprehensive Insurance, or simply Travel Insurance. They are perfect for cruises, tours, and vacations. They have been tailor-made for a single trip. Package Policies are very popular because they package a wide variety of benefits under a single policy. Travel insurance companies have a smorgasbord of options. They cover the risks which accompany all those who travel. These risks include canceling a trip and losing your pre-paid expenses, lost baggage, a missed connection, or an accident or illness that requires treatment while traveling. Trip Cancellation, Baggage Loss, Damage, or Delay, Medical and Dental coverage, Emergency Evacuation, 24 Hour Assistance, Travel Delay, and Accidental Death Coverage are some of the options available to the traveler. Some policies even include Collision/Damage coverage for rented cars and Accidental Death Coverage while flying only. The total cost of a Package Plan is based on age and cost of trip. The typical cost of a comprehensive plan is between 5-7% of the total trip cost you paid to the tour company.
