Whole Wheat Brownies

Now, wheat might not be the first ingredient that comes to mind when you think of making delicious brownies for dessert. But after trying this recipe for whole wheat brownies, your idea of what whole wheat flour can be used for just might change. 

Give these brownies a try and see just how tasty and fun baking with whole wheat can be. 



3/4 cup cocoa 
1/2 teaspoon baking powder 
1/2 teaspoon baking soda 
1/8 teaspoon salt 
2/3 cup oil, divided
1/2 cup honey 
1/2 cup brown sugar 
1 teaspoon vanilla 
1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional) 
1/2 cup boiling water 
2 eggs -->(see note below) 
1 1/3 cups whole wheat flour 
2 cups chocolate chips 

--> If using dehydrated eggs, reconstitute before using. Follow directions on #10 can to reconstitute. 

1. Blend cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, salt, 1/3 cup oil, and boiling water. Cool for 5-10 minutes.

2. Stir in honey, brown sugar, eggs, and rest of oil. Add flour, vanilla, salt, nuts (optional), and chocolate chips, then pour into a greased 13" X 9" pan.

3. Bake at 350 degrees F for 35-40 minutes. Enjoy!
