For a Mormon political first, a Mormon blessing?

MR says: This article is showing up all over national media outlets. Is it really that big of a deal to be analyzed in such detail?

Spiritual leaders will give invocations and benedictions each day at the Republican National Convention. Will Mitt Romney ask anyone from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to offer a blessing?

Romney, who will be the first Mormon nominated for president by a major party, never discusses his church while campaigning unless the circumstances require it. Instead, he talks about "my faith" or "shared values" with voters.

I have a concern about the church showing too much support for Romney as he is portraying the church membership as wealthy and selfish and not caring about people in times of stress. His comments about liking to fire people when so many are out of work because of businesses farming work out overseas is not going to show the church in a good light by this example. Wanting to raise taxes for middle class by $2000 and reducing it for millionnaires by $87000 is horrific. I'd just as soon that others didn't know he was a Mormon. All the skeletons come out of the close like his persecution of a boy he thought was gay when he was a teenager and his assault on him by holding him down and cutting his long hair. We believe in service and in compassion. I'd rather support Sen. Reid. No way I could vote for Romney.

sweetcarol are you serious. It amazes me how you and others are so misinformed. Mitt is a great example to others. He is a good man and millions times better than Obama and even Sen. Reid. I just can't believe that so many buy into the bad information put out by others just to smear someone. There is so much more to the stories you quoted and I would suggest you search it out with an open mind and not a closed and determined mind to justify yourself.

sweetcarol, please tell us you haven't bought into the disinformation the Liberals have put out there! Selfish?! It's a little hard to describe someone as "selfish" when they give over 10% of their income and probably more that isn't made public. The whole tax thing is done for scare tactics. For once, we have a clear choice and many are grateful for a man with Mitt's background. Also, he earned his fortune on his own: none of his money is from daddy. Check out your facts and don't believe the lie-peddlers.
