As the internet becomes increasingly dangerous for our children, Google has stepped up to the plate to help make it a safer place for kids. Beginning today, Google is giving parents a new tool to help keep kids safe on the internet: YouTube Kids.

Say goodbye to questionable "related videos." The new app is basically a "clean" version of YouTube with access only to family-friendly videos from sources like National Geographic Kids, Reading Rainbow, Thomas the Tank Engine, and more.

It's also "the first Google product built from the ground up with littles ones in mind," the official announcement shares. "For years, families have come to YouTube, watching countless hours of videos on all kinds of topics. Now, parents can rest a little easier knowing that videos in the YouTube Kids app are narrowed down to content appropriate for kids."

Features on the app include a timer to limit screen time, search settings that let you limit the results to only videos you've approved, and even adjustable sound settings to keep the noise down during quiet times.

Even the app's overall design has kids in mind: larger images, bold colors, and intuitive features help kids navigate the screens. (You can even enable a voice search if your little one has trouble with spelling or typing.)

YouTube Kids is available for free on Android and iOS devices.
