Unity and Priorities
With everyone focused on the same eternal goals with an understanding of the power of unity, progress can be championed in each family member. Use these lessons to teach your family about the importance of unity within not only the family, but in the ward, stake, and their relationship with the Lord.
Optimism and Reliability
In a world of trials and tribulations, it's easy to let the blues get you down. However, you can make the world a better place by simply choosing to have a brighter attitude. With a hop in your step and a smile on your face, your days will be less stressful and happier. Not only will you feel more confident about the trials you face, but you'll bring out the smiles in those around you.
I Will Be Worthy to Go to the Temple
I will live now to be worthy to go to the temple, serve a mission, and do my part to have an eternal family. Gospel Standard: I will live now to be worthy to go to the temple, serve a mission, and do my part to have an eternal family. ( Faith in God guidebooks, back cover)...

Obedience and Self-Reliance
Probably one of the most well-known obedience application stories is that of the boy and his kite. As the kite got higher and higher, the boy asked his father to cut the string so that it could keep getting higher. But like rules and commandments, the string enabled the kite to fly, and when the boy's father cut it, the kite came crashing down. Here are a few more object lessons to help your family understand the importance of being obedient.
Becoming Like Christ
"What would Jesus do?" or "What would He have me do?" are the paramount personal questions of this life. Walking in His way is the greatest achievement of life. (Ezra Taft Benson, "Think on Christ," New Era, Apr. 1994, 4) Thought: I testify to you that there is no greater, more thrilling, and...
Gratitude and Generosity
When we focus on the things we've been given instead of what we want, we can live with contentment and appreciation. To learn to constantly look for the good demands patience and practice, but it's catching--once you start to recognize your many blessings, you can't help but find more! Practice being grateful with your family and quite literally counting your blessings.
Being Respectful and Honest
With school starting back up again, your children will begin a new routine with new teachers and classmates, and we thought it important to emphasize respect and honesty. If we show respect to those around us, we, in turn, will be respected. In this circle of mutual esteem, we’ll be better able to demonstrate Christlike attributes of love, charity, and kindness. Here are a few object lessons that may help you illustrate these lessons.

Boosting Self-Confidence
Somewhere along the line, we’ve all struggled with feelings of inadequacy. For many of us, "not feeling good enough" was especially prevalent during childhood. Help your children develop self-confidence by having a self-esteem boosting family home evening where fears can be addressed and everyone can be reminded of their divine potential as children of God.
Prayer
Perhaps the most important reason we should pray is because the Lord has told us to. Prayer is a way to communicate with our Heavenly Father. When he sent us to earth, he gave us the opportunity to live by faith, and one of our principal ways to receive instruction, counsel, and direction is through prayer.
Being Anxiously Engaged
Because the Lord gives us everything, it is so important that we give of ourselves and resources to serve others with the pure love of Christ. Use this lesson to help your family shower others with smiling service and make goals as a family to do specific things for others that are charitable and...
