- US Army Chief Warrant Officer 2 Kirk Takeshi Fuchigami Jr. died Nov. 20 in a helicopter crash in Lagar Province, Afghanistan. The Latter-day Saint soldier, age 25, was killed while providing security for troops on the ground, Church News reported. Fuchigami was raised in Hilo, Hawaii, and Henderson, Nevada, and loved aviation. Graduating from high school in 2012, he joined the JROTC and the Aviation Magnet Program and received a pilot's license—one of the youngest to do so in his school's history.
