'Choose to Become' in the Time Out for Women 2011 tour

Even when thousands of women head to Time Out for Women, where speakers, musicians and other presenters help nourish them emotionally and spiritually, they aren't entirely in "time out," so to speak.

In 2010, women assembled 5,200 hope kits that were distributed to womens shelters in the 19 cities where the tour stopped, said Laurel Christensen, director of the Deseret Book-sponsored event. This year, the group hopes to put together 6,000 "possibility packs" — a nice hygiene kit — for womens shelters in the 20 cities where the "Choose to Become" 2011 tour will be stopping.

First is Ogden the weekend of Feb. 4-5, with Nashville, Tenn., on March, 11; Minneapolis and Fresno, Calif., on April 8; Seattle, Wash., and San Antonio, Texas, on April 29; Calgary, Alberta, on May 6; Oklahoma City on May 3; and then Pocatello, Idaho, on June 3. The fall events start Sept. 16 in Logan, Utah.
