'Happy New Year' - Crowds celebrate on Temple Square

The EVE celebration on Temple Square drew crowds as thousands gathered for performances in the Tabernacle and Joseph Smith Memorial Building on Dec. 31. People poured in from the cold, bundled in coats yet still wearing their 'Happy New Year' headbands, to attend music and dance events throughout the evening. The Temple Square performances are part of a larger, three-day celebration put on by the Downtown Alliance in Salt Lake City. Temple Square hosted events on Saturday, Dec. 29, and Monday, Dec. 31. The Winter Wonderland concert on Dec. 29 featured Marvin Goldstein, The Consortium Men's Ensemble a cappella choir, violinist Mindy Palmer Andersen, vocalist Sydnee Ralph and pianist Masa Fukuda.
