"My favorite thing to do as soon as spring turns is . . ."

In addition to my large spring cleaning for my home, I purchase new "spring" candles and scented oils. Just the smell alone can take me into the sunshine!

My favorite thing to do when the spring turns is drive with my family around Okinawa Island to see all the Japanese cherry blossoms in bloom.

Since I live in Southern Utah, during the winter it constantly feels like spring is just around the corner. But when it finally gets here, my family and I welcome it with as many hikes as we can handle.

Last year my family went to the Grand Canyon and it was amazing. We got this book called a Passport. The Passport has every National Park listed and sectioned so that we can collect a stamp that is dated from each National Park. We didn't know it at the time, but getting that passport has started a tradition. Every spring we will bring in the summer by going to a different National Park. This year the plan is to go to the Volcano National Park in Hawaii. We all have our own books so that when the kids are older and move away they can take it with them and remember all the good times that we had every spring.

This is just one of the ways that we can grow closer as a family and enjoy the beauties that our Heavenly Father has given us. Every National Park has something new and exciting to offer and we can't wait to find out what the next one will bring.

My favorite thing to do as soon as spring turns it to take a walk outdoors with my children to discover the many signs of nature waking up from winter. The small buds, colorful bulbs and signs of life after a long winter lifts my spirits like little else can.

My favorite thing to do as soon as spring turns is watch the sunrise from my back patio with my family and a nice cup of hot chocolate, then it's in the house to enjoy a family breakfast.

My favorite thing to do as soon as spring turns is to work my compost dirt into my garden that will be planted with tomatoes, lettuce and whatever else I decide upon. I love spring for the things I can do.

My favorite thing to do when spring gets here is walk barefoot in the grass and open all the windows to let fresh air in the house.

As soon as it begins to show signs of spring, I get out and prepare for planting--cleaning out the old branches and leaves that I didn't get in the fall. I have planted bulbs and I love to see all the plants as they begin to grow. Some of them start coming up even before the snow is melted. There are many plants that start budding out and I love to nurture them. I even have been known to talk to my plants.

Another thing that I do is I begin to pre-plant seeds that I can later plant in my garden. I love to watch them grow. It gives me hope for spring even on cold and gloomy days.

Be outside! Whether it is working in the flower beds or getting the garden ready or washing windows or taking my grandkids to the park--I love spring--it's my favorite time of year!
