A guest of Utah Public Radio, KUER and KCPW, Hagerty, National Public Radio's religion correspondent, was in Utah July 15-18 to promote her new book, "Fingerprints of God: The Search for the Science of Spirituality." Hosted in part by the religious studies program at Utah State University, USU's department of history and Cache Valley Unitarian Universalists, Hagerty's visit included several broadcasting appearances, book signings and public presentations.
"Writing this book has been the most fascinating, terrifying experience I've had in 27 years as a journalist," Hagerty said, speaking before a full house in Logan's Bullen Center. "Many times I've asked myself, 'Am I crazy? What if God really is nothing more than brain chemistry? What will I do then? Worse yet, what will my friends at NPR think?'"
