BYU football's 'fireside' season also starts this week

Before BYU opens its season against Ole Miss on Saturday, fans can find coach Bronco Mendenhall and the rest of the Cougar team participating in a fireside the evening before kickoff.

It's not the usual way of preparing for a game, but the Cougars are taking time to focus on a higher meaning of life.

"Through the messages, as well as the musical numbers that are performed, it's a way to bring peace and happiness to our lives," said Mendenhall, a sixth-year head coach, in a news release. "It's a way for us to give back by sharing with others the real meaning or purpose of life."
