Being Mormon in a Mormon moment

Richard L. Bushman put the big headphones on his head for an interview with NPR in New York City. His biography of the founder of Mormonism, "Joseph Smith: Rough Stone Rolling," had just been published by Knopf and because 2005 was the 200th anniversary of Joseph Smith's birth, Bushman was in high demand for interviews with the media. "I thought NPR would ask about, 'What's the significance of this guy?'" Bushman said.

Instead, the interviewer asked Bushman to recount every detail about Joseph Smith's first vision of God the Father and Jesus Christ.
