Jim Buchanan, director of emergency services for the city, tells the Standard-Examiner that within 12 hours of the official announcement of the groundbreaking, hotels were booked full in Brigham City.
City officials are expecting anywhere from 10,000 to 30,000 visitors for the event that begins at 9 a.m. on July 31. It will include up to 2,000 invited guests. The public is invited to attend. The groundbreaking also will be broadcast by satellite to LDS stake centers throughout the temple district.
