There was a moment on the red carpet outside London’s Prince of Wales Theatre where the two writers behind the hottest ticket in town appeared briefly lost for words. Matt Stone and Trey Parker, the creators of the record-breaking new musical The Book of Mormon, grinned as they boasted to an interviewer of their readiness to push far beyond the boundaries of taste. . . . Then came the question: but what about the Mormons?
Both men briefly glanced sideways and interrupted each other before Parker blurted out: “They’re way too friendly and happy.” As for repercussions? “That’s not their modus operandi. That’s not the way they work.”
