Burned Washington meetinghouse to be replaced

Ground was broken March 19 for a new building to replace the meetinghouse that burned last October due to arson. About 200 members of the two displaced wards who met in the meetinghouse in Mukilteo attended the ceremony on a sunny spring day.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony were Elder R. Bruce Merrell, Area Seventy; Jeff Lee, president of the Lynnwood Washington Stake; Janice Thorne, Harbour Pointe Ward Relief Society president; and Mukilteo Mayor Joe Marine spoke at the ceremony.

Elder Merrell expressed appreciation to the members, leaders and the community for their Christlike response to the fire. Fortunately, no one was injured in the fire that began in the early morning hours.
