Church Changes Name of Mormon Channel

The Church has changed the name of the Mormon Channel, a media channel that publishes inspirational videos and podcasts, to Latter-day Saints Channel.

The change, which was announced on Wednesday on the Church's newsroom, follows the revelation President Nelson received to avoid the terms "Mormon" and "LDS Church" when referring to the name of the Church and its members.

"The Lord has impressed upon my mind the importance of the name He has revealed for His Church, even The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints," President Nelson said in a statement last year. "We have work before us to bring ourselves in harmony with His will. In recent weeks, various Church leaders and departments have initiated the necessary steps to do so."

According to the Church's newsroom, the new Latter-day Saints Channel name follows suit with other name changes made in the past year to other Church-owned organizations.

"As with the recent change of LDS Charities to Latter-day Saint Charities, this adjustment mirrors the correct name of those who belong to the restored Church of Jesus Christ and their commitment to follow the Savior of the world," the statement reads.

Latter-day Saints Channel will continue to publish inspirational videos and podcasts as well as live broadcasts and can be accessed at SaintsChannel.ChurchofJesusChrist.org and on the Saints Channel app.
