"I knew I needed to share my story, even though there were parts of my life that I didn’t want to relive," says Sister Reyna I. Aburto in an article recently posted onlds.org.

Sister Aburto wrote the article after the Church released a series of three videos about the second counselor in the Relief Society General Presidency, telling stories about her life. "Going through the process of filming this video and talking about my experiences, I feel like there are three things that Heavenly Father taught me and I want to share with others," she says in the article, which you can read in full on lds.org.

The videos address many difficult parts of Sister Aburto's life, from growing up in Nicaragua and losing her brother and her home in an earthquake to civil unrest to her divorce. They also talk about her experience meeting the Mormon missionaries and joining the Church.

Sister Aburto shared about the project on her Facebook page, "When I was approached by a Church production team to share my life story on video, I was wondering why anyone would be interested in watching it. However, I’m grateful for the experience which allowed me to more fully recognize how the Lord has been in every detail of my life."

General Relief Society President Sister Jean B. Bingham and first counselor Sharon Eubank also shared sweet posts about the third member of the presidency, expressing thoughts such as, "[Sister Aburto's] life story has touched me deeply and given me renewed resolve to whole-heartedly trust in God. I hope her story will help you find strength and hope to overcome your own life trials," and "It’s one of the happiest blessings in my life that she and I get to serve together in this Relief Society general presidency."

Here is the first video of the series. You can watch part 2 andpart 3 video on Mormon Channel
