Elder Dallin H. Oaks visits Nigeria

Almost 50 years after the first General Authority visited Nigeria in 1962, Elder Dallin H. Oaks of the Quorum of the Twelve met with thousands of faithful leaders and members of the Church who are thriving in this West African nation.

In only 22 years, the Church in Nigeria has the largest number of members in Africa.

Although many General Authorities have visited Nigeria since before the Church was established in the nation, it was the strength of the members today and their mature testimonies that stood out to Elder Oaks during his visit from Feb. 18-28.

"I was impressed with the vigor and faith of our members and with the sophistication of the leaders," he told the Church News. "They were concentrating on the most important things, and they were going forward with faith."
