Fort Collins LDS temple to break ground Aug. 24

After more than two years of planning, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Aug. 24 will break ground on a 30,389-square-foot temple in southeast Fort Collins. The invitation-only groundbreaking concludes a long and often difficult process that raised tensions between church officials and residents, many of whom objected to the height and potential increase in traffic in their residential neighborhood.

Located on the southeast corner of South Timberline and Trilby roads, the temple won approval from Fort Collins planning and zoning officials in February and is in the process of getting its final permits, said Eric Adams, a church spokesman.
