Heaps, Van Noy want a national championship team (and are helping the Cougars recruit for it)

It’s not very often that while a coach is addressing prospective recruits, one of them raises his hand and asks to address the team.

Then again, Jake Heaps is not your typical recruit. Heaps recently verbally committed to play football for BYU starting in the fall of 2010. Since his commitment, he has been working hard to build the type of team he can win a national championship with.

“It’s about bringing in the best group of guys that we can,” Heaps said.

Kyle Van Noy, a linebacker recruit from the 2009 class, has moved in with Heaps, and together they have teamed up to try and recruit as much special talent as they can.

“We want to shock the world,” Van Noy said.

Among other things, Heaps and Van Noy want BYU fans to be ready for more exciting commitments in the near future.
