High school skit stereotypes Mormons, receives complaints

Lebanon High School administrators are reviewing pep assembly preview procedures in the wake of a Friday homecoming skit about religion that prompted a complaint from a student.

Principal Bo Yates said Monday he did not know about the skit in advance and sent out an e-mail afterward apologizing to staff members for not personally screening the content.

"Religion and religious stereotypes are areas I believe we should steer clear of," he wrote.

The senior who came up with the skit, 17-year-old Kaylie Probert, said she never intended any offense, just a lighthearted look at her own religion - Mormonism - and some fun with friends who share that faith.
