Houses of the Lord in the latter days

Anciently and in modern days, temples of the Lord have had two functions: being places of revelation and the performance of sacred ceremonies, said Richard O. Cowan, BYU professor of Church History.

Brother Cowan was the concluding speaker Sept. 22 at a day-long conference, "The Temple on Mount Zion," held at the Provo Public Library and sponsored by Interpreter: A Journal of Mormon Scripture, an on-line periodical that was launched in August. It is not officially connected with the Church. Brother Cowan addressed the topic "Latter-day Houses of the Lord: Developments in Their Design and Function."
