On Dec. 17, Bayley Huerta, 22, was on her way from Cedar City to Cache Valley, Utah, to be near family as her due date for her unborn baby girl, Elenna Grace, approached.

Tragically, she never made it.

Huerta was involved in a six-car pileup on I-15 and she and her baby later passed away.

"Both Fernando and Bayley come from adoring families, and the couple wanted nothing more than to share their precious gift, Elenna, with them," the family wrote on a GoFundMe page. "They made the decision that they were going to move back home to Cache Valley in order to be close to those they hold dearest as they began their little family. On the drive to their Cache Valley home, Bayley was involved in a car accident, and instead taken to her Heavenly home accompanied by their beautiful baby girl. She is now a mother in Heaven and has left her adoring husband Fernando in the care of family and friends."

In the wake of this tragedy, hundreds have rallied around Huerta's husband and family. In just a day, almost 500 people have raised $24,250, nearly half of the $50,000 goal.

"We are so sorry to hear about this devastating loss for you and your family. You are in our prayers," one person wrote on the GoFundMe page.

"Our prayers are with you—and we know you will be together one day eternally. Bless you!" wrote another.
