Latter-day Saint Life

Joseph Smith Prophesied 'Hastening the Work'

Then the Lord gave a prophecy, which was quoted infrequently until President Thomas S. Monson announced that younger men and women could serve missions. Doctrine and Covenants 88:73 reads: “Behold, I will hasten my work in its time.” Notice that the Lord says “my work” not “the work,” as some people are wont to say.

What is the Lord’s work that He intends to hasten? Latter-day Saints know because it was revealed to them in the restored vision of Moses: “For behold, this is my work and my glory — to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man” (Moses 1:39).
