LDS Church goers expect to rebuild following fire

Investigators are currently studying surveillance video of the arson fire that destroyed the Mormon church in Mukilteo last weekend.

A fast-moving blaze raced through the church early Saturday, with fire officials declaring the structure at the corner of Harbour Pointe Boulevard North and Chennault Beach Road to be a total loss.

Local and federal investigators determined that arson was the cause, and a $10,000 reward has been offered for information leading to a conviction.

Mukilteo Assistant Fire Chief Brian McMahan said the department received a call at 2:59 a.m., with the first unit, Ladder 25, arriving six minutes later.

Firefighters could see smoke and flames coming through the roof in the center of the building, McMahan said.
