Deseret Book Lunch and Learn Events

All DB Lunch and Learn events happen every Friday at the downtown Deseret Book store in Salt Lake from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

May 2: Simon Winegar
Simon’s artwork has been featured in many magazines, books, and art venues. His work has also been featured at the Springville Art Museum in Utah, and the Museum of Church History in Salt Lake City. He paints still life, seascapes, and historic works of art. 

May 9: Ken Harris
Ken was an artist at American Greeting’s World Headquarters for 12 years. He owns and operates decorative painting business specializing in murals and interior finishes. 

May 16: Scott Sumner
Scott has been a professional photographer for the past 10 years, although he also has a background in art and illustration.  He has received many awards for his artwork depicting the Savior. 

May 23: Justin Kunz
Justin is an artist, teacher and designer. His work focuses on United States coinage. But he is also an avid painter. His paintings have been included in exhibitions across the States, and he is currently on staff at the Department of Visual Arts at BYU. 

May 30: Amy Tolk Richards
Amy has traveled extensively, and now her travels inspire her artwork. She has seen the great works in Europe, China, and the Middle-East, but she still loves painting in the simply beauty of the Tennessee hills. Her miniature oil paintings are simply breathtaking.

Multicultural Show Case
Saturday, May 10,  7:00 p.m.  
Performers from Native American, African American, Polynesian, Asian and Latin cultures will share songs and dances and views of life. Come and enjoy these young people as the share their talents. This group has performed at a variety of national and international locations. 
Night of Music and Inspiration
Sunday, May 11, 7:00 p.m.   
This evening will be presented by the missionaries of the Washington D. C. North Mission. There will be music and uplifting thoughts to strengthen our testimonies.
Bernadette and Winston Charles Performance 
Saturday, May 17, 7:00 p.m.   
The Charles’ are award-winning vocalists. They will entertain us with an evening of inspirational, classical, and gospel musical selections. They have performed nationally and internationally.

“Why I Believe” Fireside with Lance Walker 
Sunday, May 18, 7:00 p.m.   
Brother Walker is the director of public and international affairs for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Washington D. C. He has worked on Capitol Hill and other professional and technology service areas.
Current Exhibit: Witnesses of Christ--Liz Lemon Swindle 
These beautiful paintings illustrate the testimonies of those who were close to the Savior during His life and witness that we too, can learn of Him and feel the peace that only He can offer.  The exhibit closes June 15th.
