More than a dozen new images, created specifically for this book, and the accompanying text allow you to exercise your imagination while expanding your understanding of this powerful metaphor of life. Original illustrations from the book will be on display and available for sale.

Fred Howard
Fred Howard was born and raised in Provo, Utah.  He is currently 60 years of age and sits as a full-time, state trial judge.  “Normally, presiding over a daily calendar of conflict and criminal proceedings as well as a household of nine daughters would drive a person crazy.  In my case, it drove me to the art room." Fred is a self-taught artist who has studied with professional artists including Doyle Shaw, David Koch, Jim Norton, Jim Wilcox and Scott Christensen.  Formal achievements include First place (semi-pro) award in the 2006 Midway Arts Festival, Second place in the 2007 Springville Salon and Fourth place in the 2008 pleinair Midway Arts Festival.  As an aspiring pleinair artist seeking to improve his skills, he regularly takes to the fields of Utah, Idaho and Wyoming in an effort to capture the essence and beauty of the western landscape.
