Lunch and Learn Series with Deseret Book Artists and Authors

Every Friday, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Downtown Deseret Book Store, SLC, Utah

Mar. 1: Anne Oborn

A native of Pocatello, Idaho, she graduated from Idaho State University with a bachelors of fine arts degree.  She was a scholarship recipient of Sergei Bongart, the famous Russian Traditionalist Impressionist who lived in Santa Monica.  Springville Museum of Art, BYU Utah, BYU Idaho, and Church of Jesus Christ Art Museum have her paintings in permanent collection.  Reproductions of her paintings have also been featured on book covers and in magazines.

Mar. 8: Ruth H. Buckmiller

Ruth is an avid painter and has studied under many professional artists, receiving awards for her artwork both in watercolor and in oil. She studied art at BYU and received a BA in Fina Arts. Her artwork graces the walls of the Draper and the Oquirrh Mountain Temple. She has always felt that making art helps her find peace, healing and joy.

Men and Women of Faith Lecture: "Faith of Latter-day Sisters: A Personal Perspective"

Julie B. Beck, former Relief Society general president, will be presenting her thoughts on the remarkable faith of Latter-day Saint sisters. While serving as general president of the Relief Society, Julie B. Beck had the opportunity of visiting with Latter-day Saint women throughout the world.  Experiences from the lives of these faithful sisters provide inspiration for all Latter-day Saint women, and their love of the gospel of Jesus Christ ties all women together as daughters of our Heavenly Father.
