Here are Some of the Most Memorable Moments for Latter-day Saints From the Past 10 Years

Remember when the missionary age changed? Or when Mitt Romney ran for President? How about when then Elder M. Russell Ballard became the first member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles to tweet?

Deseret News released a feature that looks back on some of the most memorable moments that Latter-day Saints experienced over the last decade.

The city of Rome, Italy, plays into both the start and the end of the decade. President Thomas S. Monson presided at the Rome Italy Temple groundbreaking in October 2010. In March 2019, President Russell M. Nelson dedicated the Rome Italy Temple while accompanied by all of the members of the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.

Church membership has also grown over the last decade. At April 2010 general conference, the statistical report noted Church membership was 13.8 million, with 344 missions and 51,736 missionaries. The statistical report in April 2019 general conference noted Church membership was 16.3 million, with 407 missions and 65,137 missionaries. Temples have grown from 130 to 166.

In addition to President Russell M. Nelson becoming the 17th prophet of the Church, five new apostles have been called in the last 10 years: Elder Ronald A. Rasband, Elder Gary E. Stevenson, Elder Dale G. Renlund, Elder Gerrit W. Gong, and Elder Ulisses Soares.
