Mormon teens beautify 20 homes

About 500 Mormon teens repainted 16 Maryvale homes and landscaped four more Saturday as part of their church's annual Tri-Stake Service Project.

"Our goal is just to be good neighbors, teach the kids how to work," said project coordinator Walt Farnsworth. "Just let them be out in the community and see how it feels to help somebody else."

Farnsworth said it is the sixth year that the group has coordinated with the Maryvale Revitalization Corporation, a non-profit group that promotes the improvement of the low-income community in west Phoenix.
