Mormons pitch in to help others

Members of the Peoria North Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints recently combined two community service projects into one large project to benefit the City of Peoria as well as a food bank in Avondale and the Waste Not food collection agency.

Throughout October, donations from the seven wards in the North Peoria area and Sun City were collected and a total of more than $5,900 was given to Waste Not to purchase holiday turkeys for distribution to local food banks. This is the 10th year church members in North Peoria have contributed to a Turkey Drive for the community.
