If there is one thing our prophet wanted to know during his birthday celebration broadcast around the world on September 6, it was that "Jesus the Christ is literally my Savior, my Redeemer, my Exemplar, and Friend." He shared that message again on Facebook following the celebration, adding, "Every day of my life, I thank my Heavenly Father—in the name of Jesus Christ—for the gift of life and the privilege of serving His children."

But that wasn't the end to the birthday wishes and cards the prophet would receive for his 95th birthday. In fact, President Nelson posted a picture on September 12th displaying a desk crammed with birthday cards.

"Dear precious family and friends, I am totally overcome with feelings of love and gratitude. I cannot adequately thank you for all the good wishes on my 95th birthday. I have read your loving comments, many cards, and letters. Please know of my heartfelt feelings of appreciation and affection! I thank you all, most sincerely," President Nelson said. He continued:

"May the Lord bless you in your individual life. I testify that God lives, and I know that He loves you—His children. He wants you to have joy, choose to return to His holy presence, and receive all the blessings He has in store for His faithful children. Again, to each of you I express my love, my gratitude, and my testimony."

Throughout this time when the Saints around the world celebrated our prophet, President Nelson has quickly turned that attention and focus elsewhere, pointing all of us toward our Savior and Heavenly Father. A day following his birthday, the prophet emphasized the love Heavenly Father has for his children, making a promise to Latter-day Saints that if they caught even a glimpse of one eternal truth, their lives would never be the same:

"Great power lies in learning who you really are. Please take time to think prayerfully about these facts: •You are an elect son or daughter of God. •You were created in His image. •You were taught in the spirit world to prepare you for anything and everything you would encounter during this latter part of these latter days. That teaching endures within you! "Learn for yourselves who you really are. Ask your Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, how He feels about you and your mission here on earth. If you ask with real intent, over time the Spirit will whisper the life-changing truth to you. Record those impressions and review them often, and follow through with exactness. "I promise you that when you begin to catch even a glimpse of how your Heavenly Father sees you and what He is counting on you to do for Him, your life will never be the same!"
