President Uchtdorf Shares a Funny Conference Tradition You Should Watch for This Weekend

All of us have fun family general conference traditions that we look forward to every six months. President Dieter F. Uchtdorf is no exception. But his came about accidentally—and it's one you can watch for this weekend.

Recently a young man asked me why I often change my tie during general conference. It is kind of a family tradition that started years ago when between conference sessions, I stained my tie and worriedly searched for a replacement. Fortunately, I had one in my office. My grandsons enjoyed it so much that they changed their ties too, and since then it became almost a sport to do it.
For our family—and I hope for yours—general conference is a special event. In addition to hearing words of counsel and testimony from living prophets and apostles, we have the opportunity to grow and learn as we spend time with one another throughout the weekend.
Regardless of how or with whom you will watch general conference, I pray that your hearts will be touched by the messages that have been prepared to help us learn more about our Heavenly Father’s wonderful plan. I add my witness to the witness of those who will speak to us this weekend that thanks to the loving sacrifice of our Savior, Jesus Christ, this plan of happiness is available to everyone. If you listen with your heart, you will hear the special message the Savior has for you this weekend.
