Robert Anae resigns from BYU football

Robert Anae’s resignation as BYU’s offensive coordinator on Thursday morning was not unexpected. But the timing of the announcement did surprise another offensive coach who was told by head coach Bronco Mendenhall last week to look for employment elsewhere.

Running backs coach Lance Reynolds, who has been on the BYU coaching staff for 28 years, said Anae’s resignation was "news to me" when he was told about it on Thursday.

Reynolds declined to comment on Anae’s decision, saying he had tried several times to reach Anae the past week, without success, and did not want to speculate.

A BYU football spokesperson said Anae would not be made available for further comment.
