Russia's first stake a powerful symbol of country's growth

Members and missionaries in Moscow, Russia, were correct in feeling optimistic last summer when a temple was dedicated in neighboring Ukraine.

The opening of the Kyiv Ukraine Temple in 2010 was a monumental event for Latter-day Saints who have lived and labored in Moscow. Local Latter-day Saints would no longer have to travel, at significant expense, to Finland or Sweden to claim their temple blessings. A temple was just an overnight train ride away.
