Horseback riding
Get the kids up at the crack of dawn to retrace Butch Cassidy’s trail on horseback through the Wild West. Family members of all ages and experience-levels can ride around the edge of Bryce Canyon National Park to the rim that overlooks tall, thin spires of rock called hoodoos. This unique sight is one the kids will never forget, especially if you ride at sunset.

Experience the canyon up close as you trot on the switchbacks of Red Canyon, a similar view to Bryce Canyon, but less crowded. Or tour through the Ponderosa forests in the Grand Staircase region year-round no matter what time of year the family visits Ruby’s Inn.

ATV riding
Families with active and rambunctious kids can get their adrenaline pumping by riding ATVs through Ponderosa pines in the Dixie National Forest. There’s nothing better than going on a family adventure with the wind in your face. Guided ATV tours are a fun way to explore the area around Ruby’s Inn. With tours ranging from 30 - 60 minutes and ATVs that can seat two to six people, the whole family can ride together or follow each other in a group observing the scenic views.

Mountain biking
For many parents and children, the memory of learning to ride a bike is a cherished one. Ruby’s Inn rents hardtail and full-suspension mountain bikes that can establish new biking memories for the whole family. While mountain biking in Bryce Canyon National Park is not allowed, families can pedal on the paved Canyon 2 Canyon Trail. The trail starts at Red Canyon, parallels Scenic Byway 12 and showcases multiple views of the area before it ends at Inspiration Point in Bryce Canyon. For bike-loving families, try to ride the whole 20-mile trail! For beginners, there are many stops and places to exit, turnaround or take the shuttle back to the resort.

Hiking
Hiking is the most convenient and popular activity among Ruby’s Inn visitors. Several hiking trails are scattered throughout the area and give families the opportunity to slow down and talk with each other while gazing at the scenic vistas.

Mossy Cave Trail is a short, easy stroll to red pinnacles at the bottom of Bryce Canyon, a waterfall and ends at Mossy Cave. Queen’s Garden Trail is another family-friendly trail along the bottom of the canyon with close access to unique rock formations. This trail is more intermediate in level. For the hiking-enthusiast families, Fairyland Loop Trail is an 8.3-mile, round-trip hike through the area. Hike down into the amphitheaters and labyrinths, among hoodoos and spires and through deep canyons of pink, tan and white.

Take the family for a hike through the slot canyons. Carved by water and wind, slot canyons are narrow hiking trails that leave adventurers amazed. Enjoy jumping over or tramping through small rivers that meander through the slim canyons as the sandstone walls rise like great giants above everyone’s heads. These hikes are unforgettable and a must-do for each family bucket list.

Scenic flights
At Ruby’s Inn, the Historic Bryce Canyon Airport provides scenic, F.A.A.-certified plane and helicopter flights. Imagine rising to new heights to explore the Bryce Canyon area! For truly adventurous families, experience a scenic flight tour that takes you to Monument Valley or all the way to the Grand Canyon.

Their most unique flight, the “Blacks and Red Canyons” soars over the hidden beauty created by volcanic activity and erosion. View dramatic red-canyon cathedrals, their ridges emphasized with ash and iron oxide, standing majestically among the red hills with green forests dotting the area. It is a trip to another realm to witness a wonder of the west only seen from the sky.

Ebenezer's Barn & Grill Live Country Music Dinner Show
