Three years ago today, early in the morning of Dec. 17, 2010, a fire was reported in the historic Provo Tabernacle on University Avenue. Crews fought the fire throughout the morning and continued to battle flare-ups during the day. When the smoke cleared, only a shell of the beloved building remained, and its fate was unclear. On Oct. 1, 2011, LDS Church President Thomas S. Monson announced that the tabernacle would be rebuilt and converted into a temple.
