Tree Hugging

One of the most inspiring lectures I have ever heard was given by a man who dedicated his life to teaching the blind. In his lecture he said that he learned the most about the human plight from the questions his students asked. My favorite of the questions he shared was: How is it possible to see a tall tree through a small window?

Brilliant, isn’t it? It makes complete sense that without knowing how distance affects perspective this would truly seem impossible.

In spite of my faith, I don’t always have the best answer for why certain things happen. I don’t know why, for instance, my brother-in-law is sitting in a hospital in Boston today. I don’t know why some of friends—attractive and accomplished men and women who yearn for family—have not found their match.
