USA Today: LDS Church supports jobless families during holidays

Doug Brockbank, of Bluffdale, Utah, out of work for three Christmases in a row now, turns to his Mormon church as well as his own resourceful nature.

For years, Brockbank, now 43, provided his family's only paycheck while his wife, Michelle, focused on their eight children, ages one to nineteen.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 12% of U.S. families had at least one unemployed member in 2009, up from 7.8% of families in 2008.
