Wal-Mart exec inspires BYU women entering the business world

Almost all the women in the BYU MBA program know Andrea Thomas. One female student called her a BYU rock star.

And last week, Thomas, Wal-Mart's senior vice president of sustainability and a '93 graduate of the BYU MBA program, came to Utah for the Marriott School of Management's National Advisory Council conference. She not only to spoke to BYU students about her work experience but also gave students advice on their careers and talked about the role of women in the workplace.

"She has broken the mold and really gone forward and made a significant contribution in the business world," said Kari Ann Young, one of the students who went to Thomas' presentation. "She helped us know what our possibilities are and know that we can be faithful LDS women and loving mothers and be successful business professionals that can have great careers."
